Elkmont

About this room

Elkmont is filled with soft blue and white colors making it very romantic and dreamy. The blue and white sheers give this room a soft relaxing touch and the room has many toile patterned “nicks knacks” placed within it.  It boasts a gorgeous wooden high back board bed with a plush king size Plush Brother’s Bedding™ mattress topped with a toile patterned quilt that you are sure to “melt” into.  Enjoy watching your favorite TV show while in the comfort of this huge bed or do your nightly e-mail checks in bed with the convenience of in-room WIFI.  This room has a private bathroom with a shower/tub combination and a view of the herb gardens just outside the window. If you are an herb garden lover,  in the spring and summer this window should be opened to enjoy the sweet garden smells of Rosemary,  Lavender, and sage.

Where the name came from.

This room is named after the Elkmont Community, which now is inside the national park boundary. This was the heart of the logging industry and where Norman’s dad grew up and learned to play the fiddle.  Elkmont gradually evolved into a haven for the socially prominent and wealthy members of Knoxville, Maryville, and Chattanooga. Many cottages were built and used for the summer.  Today, Elkmont is primarily a campground within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The peacefulness you will find there is unsurpassed. The trail along the river here is beautiful. Early June brings the magical lighting bugs to this area.
