Southern Style Biscuits
- 1 1/4 C self-rising flour
- 1/4 C shortening
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Cut shortening into flour with pastry knife or fork until there are no clumps larger then a pea. Pour in just enough buttermilk to make the flour wet. Place dough onto well floured surface.
- Gently fold dough with flour until its no longer sticky. Pat out dough gently by hand until abut 1 inch think. Cut out biscuits with a standard biscuit cutter or you can use a glass. Place on a greased cookie sheet and place in oven on center rack and back until golden brown, about 10 - 15 min. remove and brush with butter.
